Man dies after being struck by beam in a construction accident

On Behalf of | Feb 1, 2018 | Construction Workers' Accidents, Firm News

Many construction companies in Colorado and elsewhere place a high priority on maintaining a safe environment for workers to operate in. Companies may also provide safety training and equipment for employees in an effort to reduce the odds that an accident will occur. Unfortunately, preventing every construction accident could prove a difficult task, and those involving heavy falling objects can be devastating.

A 39-year-old man was killed in a recent construction accident that took place in another state. According to investigating officials, the man was performing work at a job site when a heavy beam fell from above and struck him in the head. Although he was reportedly working alone at the time, nearby workers heard the beam fall and notified emergency responders, but the man was unfortunately pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

A representative for the construction company says that it will cooperate with the investigation fully, and that the man’s death was felt by everyone at the company. Such an incident can happen at any moment, and may leave surviving family members to grieve an untimely loss. Along with the emotional grief of such a loss, a family may also face financial hardships that can accompany end-of-life expenses and a loss of income, potentially prompting a need to seek relief.

Those who lose a close family member in a fatal construction accident may be eligible to receive financial relief through the workers’ compensation insurance system. However, the process can be intricate in nature, and seeking guidance from an attorney could prove advisable. An attorney can assist a client in Colorado in pursuing the full amount of compensation available through every applicable outlet.
