Forklift accidents cause thousands of serious injuries annually

OSHA reports that forklift accidents are responsible annually for about 100 deaths, 34,900 serious injuries, and 61,800 minor injuries. It appears that Colorado workers suffer their proportionate share of forklift accidents each year. These are caused by a variety of factors, including poor maintenance, machines tipping over, dangerous attachments and inadequate training.

Workers' compensation is payable for aggravation of prior injury

In Colorado and all other jurisdictions, the work-related exacerbation of a preexisting condition resulting in a disability from work is compensable. Workers’ compensation benefits must be paid to an employee whose post-traumatic stress disorder was exacerbated by a work-related incident, according to a recent appellate court decision in another state. Workers' compensation and government agencies push for safety

There are work accidents in America’s workplaces daily, including in Colorado. Many of these are serious events that were preventable. Fortunately, a comprehensive system of workers’ compensation benefits serves to expedite claims and takes care of the survival needs of employees in a structured format.

Culture of safety can reduce workplace injury statistics

The best companies to work for in Colorado are the ones that understand the importance of having a culture of safety in the workplace. It’s hard to argue that when an experienced worker suffers a serious injury that this is somehow an economically neutral event. The workplace injury is an economic drain on any company that does its math and its accounting correctly.
