1 struck and killed by metal beam in construction accident

On Behalf of | Apr 13, 2018 | Construction Workers' Accidents, Firm News

Even while wearing the proper safety gear, construction workers in Colorado and elsewhere may face numerous potential hazards while on the job. Falling objects are a significant concern for many workers, and a hard hat may do little to protect them against being struck by heavy materials. A 25-year-old man was killed in a recent construction accident after he was struck by a metal beam that fell from 18 feet above.

The incident reportedly took place at a construction site at a high school at around 10:15 a.m. on a recent Tuesday. While the man was working at the site, a metal beam suddenly fell approximately 18 feet and struck him. Emergency responders rushed him to the hospital for treatment soon thereafter, but he unfortunately passed away the following day.

Many of the details as to what might have caused the beam to fall and the nature of the injuries the man suffered remain unclear. However, officials have advised that an investigation is underway, and that an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of his death. Incidents of this nature can be devastating and can leave surviving family members mourning over a sudden and unexpected loss.

Families who suffer loss in a fatal construction accident may be eligible to receive relief for financial hardships, but they might be uncertain how best to approach the situation. For advice on the available options, a family could consider consulting with an experienced attorney. An attorney in Colorado can address the client’s situation and assist him or her in pursuing the full amount of compensation available.
