Man listed in critical condition following construction accident

On Behalf of | Apr 18, 2017 | Construction Workers' Accidents, Firm News

Many construction companies across the country frequently use heavy machinery for assistance in performing numerous tasks. Machines such as a boom lift make it easier for workers in Colorado to perform tasks at various heights. However, these machines do involve a certain level of risk, often depending on the maintenance of the machine and the stability of the surrounding area. A recent construction accident involving a lift left a man in another state in critical condition.

According to reports, the crew was working at a condominium complex when the lift overturned, subsequently tossing a worker up to 40 feet away. Early investigation suggests that he may have hit his head on nearby rocks and a tree in the process. He was rushed to a hospital where he is apparently listed in critical condition. Another worker was inside the lift at the time, but he reportedly suffered only minor injuries.

There was no indication of the conditions surrounding the lift, such as an instability in the ground that would have caused the lift to overturn. An investigation into the incident will likely take this factor into consideration, along with the current condition of the lift in question. If a third party is deemed culpable for the incident in any way, it may be held responsible accordingly.

Workers who are seriously injured in a construction accident often seek relief for financial losses through the workers’ compensation insurance system. Since this can be challenging to navigate alone, individuals often seek assistance from an attorney with experience in the process. An attorney in Colorado can assist an individual in pursuing the full amount of compensation to which he or she may be entitled.
