Colorado learns of fatal workplace injury at fabrication facility

On Behalf of | Mar 6, 2013 | Firm News, Workplace Accidents

Readers in Colorado know that, sometimes, being at work can be dangerous. This is especially true for those who work in industries such as fabrication and construction. Recently, a man died as a result of a fatal workplace injury accident in another state.

The fatal workplace accident that ended the life of the 23-year-old man is now the subject of an official investigation. What is known is that the worker was at his job in a metal fabrication facility when the incident occurred. It appears that he was using a Bystronic laser at the time of his fatal accident. This machine is designed to cut and sort metal parts during the fabrication process.

The man died of head injuries that occurred as he worked with the laser. No other details of the incident were available immediately after the death of the young man. However, officials conducting the investigation will work to learn exactly what happened to cause the fatal workplace accident. This effort may include inspection of the machine involved, the safety procedures of the workplace and eyewitness accounts.

When a person in Colorado is injured in a workplace accident such as this one, they or their survivors may find that they require assistance from the state workers’ compensation program. The insurance program is intended to assist those who have been injured with the financial costs associated with their accidents. In a case where the victim of a workplace injury dies, the surviving family may find that they require workers’ compensation benefits to assist them in recovering from the emotional and financial losses that they suffer. To determine if they are eligible to receive benefits, a person or survivor may wish to review the applicable laws as they enter the process.
