Readers in Colorado may be interested to learn about a workplace accident that occurred recently in another state. There, a worker at a chicken processing plant was killed. Now, his survivors may be able to cover some of the expenses brought about by his loss by making a claim to the workers’ compensation program for this accident.
Like similar accidents in Colorado, officials from the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating to determine what happened to the now-deceased man. Initial reports indicate that he was trying to clear debris from a machine at the chicken processing plant when he was killed. Law enforcement officials are also working with OSHA to answer the question of what happened to the 37-year-old victim in this unfortunate case.
If it is verified that the man died as a result of a workplace accident, his survivors may be able to make a claim under the workers’ compensation program. Though not all accidents qualify for such benefits, the surviving families in some cases may be able to receive some compensation for their loss. Despite the fact that no amount of money can return a family’s loved one, financial compensation can at least take some stress away.
