Colorado workers’ compensation for all injured residents

On Behalf of | Oct 26, 2012 | Firm News

A recent study by a large university in another state found that workers were paid for the injuries received on the job at different rates depending on the race of the individual who was injured. Though the study focused on workers in another state, the findings may also be of interest to many in Colorado. Claims to workers’ compensation insurance are made by injured workers in all states across the land.

In the study, the researchers found that a Caucasian worker who made a claim to workers’ compensation insurance companies was likely to be paid as much as $6,000 more than a worker of color with similar injuries. Taking into account the severity of the injuries and the numbers of worker claims made by each ethnicity, the study found that race may play a part in some cases. In fact, the Caucasian subjects in the study were paid more even though they were less likely to have injuries that meant partial permanent disability.

Workers’ compensation is intended to compensate a person for injuries received on the job. The most common types of injuries claimed were fractures, internal injuries and open wounds. This was the case for all ethnicities.

When a worker in Colorado finds that they have suffered injuries as a result of their employment, they often turn to workers’ compensation for assistance. This insurance can help to make ends meet for a person who becomes unable to work due to a work injury. For Colorado residents who find themselves unable to work due to an injury they obtained on the job, contacting legal counsel to discuss their options could help them gain some recompense.
