Colorado man killed in forklift accident

On Behalf of | Apr 27, 2012 | Firm News, Workplace Accidents

Although a workplace accident can happen in any work environment, ranging from an office cubicle to a construction site, they may be especially common in factories and where there is a lot of moving equipment. Unfortunately, industrial equipment increases the risk of injury to employees. When a person is injured at the workplace, though, they may be eligible to collect workers’ compensation.

Unfortunately some of these tragic accidents may lead to the death of the employee. That was the case with one incident in Colorado on April 24. The accident happened at a little before noon in an industrial workplace.

Although many details have not yet been released, what evidently happened is an employee with a company based in Pueblo, Colorado was hit by a forklift during the course of his employment. The 53-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Unfortunately, however, he died shortly thereafter at the hospital. Authorities are continuing to investigate the workplace accident, although they stress it appears that this was simply an accident.

The loss of a loved one always comes as a shock, and the man’s family may well experience deep emotional pain and suffering due to their loss. Yet as the accident happened during the course of the man’s employment, the family may be able to collect workers’ compensation benefits to help cover the lost wages of the 53-year-old man. While this compensation will not make amends for their loss, it may nonetheless help them with their funeral expenses and other ongoing expenses.
