On Behalf of | Apr 26, 2019 | Firm News, Social Security Disability, Social Security Disability

Social Security disability (SSD) is an important resource for disabled individuals who are unable to care for themselves as they used to be able to. They should know how to navigate the process as best as possible including how to qualify for Social Security disability, how apply for Social Security disability and how to address the hearing and appeals processes.

To qualify for SSD benefits, the disabled individual must suffer from a disabling medical condition that is severe enough that it prevents them from working and is expected to last for 12 months or longer or result in death. In addition, they must also meet work history requirements and have paid into the system over time in that way. Medical disability can be demonstrating by meeting medical conditions on a list kept by the Social Security Administration or through medical records.

It is important to be able to document the disabled individual’s medical condition which is why careful track of medical records should be kept. This will help during the application process, as well as during any hearing or during any appeal. Additionally, most Social Security disability claims are initially denied so disabled individuals should be prepared for the appeals process and what that includes.

The Social Security disability claims process can quickly grow complex which is why trained guidance throughout the process can also be helpful. Disabled individuals needing help with their daily needs and concerns should be familiar with how to reach out to the Social Security disability process for help which can serve as an important, and much-needed, resource for them.
