Construction accident claims life of 45-year-old man

Many individuals in Colorado and elsewhere make use of lifts when performing job-related duties at heights. While these machines make it possible to perform work on areas that would otherwise be out of reach, those who use a lift must proceed with caution, as falling from a lift or coming too close to a power line could prove devastating. A 45-year-old man has died in a recent construction accident in another state after he came in contact with a power line.

According to reports, the incident took place on a recent Friday morning at a construction site on a college campus. While performing work out of an aerial lift, the man apparently came in contact with a live power line. Several individuals in the area reported seeing smoke and sparks during this period, and the man was unfortunately killed in the process.

Although an investigation into the incident is underway, officials reportedly remain uncertain what might have caused it to occur. No information was provided as to whether the man was operating the lift on his own, or if other workers were nearby at the time. According to reports, an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death, and investigating officials will likely choose to inspect the lift to ensure it was in proper working order.

With the extensive costs of end-of-life expenses, a fatal construction accident could leave surviving family members with substantial financial burdens. Those who experience similar hardships may be entitled to relief through the workers’ compensation insurance system. Since this can be complex, a family could speak with an attorney for assistance in navigating the process. An attorney can evaluate the situation thoroughly and assist a client in Colorado in pursuing the full amount of compensation to which he or she is entitled.
