Explosion leads to severe and fatal occupational injuries

On Behalf of | Jul 3, 2017 | Firm News, Workplace Accidents

Accidents in the workplace can have disastrous consequences for those involved, potentially leading to life-altering injuries, or worse. Individuals in Colorado who suffer occupational injuries often experience difficulty performing a variety of daily tasks, such as work or hobbies. With the potential loss of income involved, even if only a temporary situation, victims of a similar circumstance may often find themselves in need of financial assistance throughout recovery.

A recent accident in another state has left six individuals with severe burn injuries, two of whom reportedly died shortly thereafter. According to reports, they were working at a major power plant, performing work on a tank that was located at the bottom of a boiler. The tank was designed to contain coal slag, which can reportedly reach temperatures in excess of 1,000 degrees.

The two men that died in the incident were apparently covered in this substance. Although there was no indication as to what may have caused the incident, an investigation has reportedly been initiated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Apparently, the company in question has been cited for several violations in the past, one of which was in relation to the death of three individuals in another work-related explosion.

Those who are forced to suffer in relation to severe or fatal occupational injuries, including the surviving family when the victim dies, often choose to seek relief for resulting financial losses. Since the process can be challenging to navigate, many individuals in Colorado retain the services of an attorney for guidance. An attorney can thoroughly evaluate the client’s situation and assist in pursuing all applicable sources of compensation.
