Construction accident results in near-severed leg

Workers in Colorado are well aware of the many hazards that can befall any worker at any time. However, in spite of the many safety measures that may be in place, a construction accident can still happen. For one unfortunate worker in another state, such an accident may have resulted in the loss of one of his legs.On a recent early morning workday, rescue workers were called to the scene of an active construction site. A 40-year-old man had suffered a serious injury after he was hit by an unspecified piece of heavy machinery. Emergency responders found that his leg had been partially severed in the accident. The man was treated in the field and then sent to a nearby medical facility that was equipped to handle this type of injury. The man is reportedly expected to survive, however, there has been no public statements concerning whether his limb could be saved. It was also reported that a rescue worker somehow sustained less serious wounds while attending the patient in the field. The state's department of workplace safety and the county authorities are said to be conducting an investigation into this serious construction accident. This injured employee will most likely file for workers' compensation benefits in order to have coverage for his medical expenses as well as help to make up for the loss of income while he is unable to work. Colorado workers also have access to this insurance program that is meant to provide monetary assistance to employees who have been injured on the job or suffered a work related illness. Workers who have questions or difficulties concerning the filing of these claims do have resources in the state that can provide help in these matters.
